Gycoheal 850 mg contains the active ingredient Metformin. It decreases the amount of glucose (sugar) produced by the liver. In people with type 2 diabetes, the liver tends to produce too much glucose. This leads to high blood sugar levels.
Metformin helps the body’s cells become more sensitive to insulin. By increasing insulin sensitivity, metformin helps the cells use insulin more effectively. This allows them to take up and utilize glucose from the bloodstream. It promotes glucose uptake by muscles and decreases glucose absorption from the gut. These actions help lower and control blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes: A chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). This is due to the body’s inability to effectively use insulin. It is a hormone that regulates blood sugar.

Glycoheal 850mg is an oral medication used to treat high blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It helps control glucose production and increase insulin sensitivity.
Glycoheal 850mg decreases the amount of glucose produced by the liver and makes muscle tissue more sensitive to insulin. This lowers blood sugar levels.
Glycoheal 850mg is typically taken 1-2 times per day with meals to help control blood sugar spikes after eating. Taking it with food can also minimize stomach/intestinal side effects.
Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, metallic taste, and muscle pain. These may decrease over time as your body adjusts.
Rarely, metformin can cause a condition called lactic acidosis, which requires medical attention. Risk factors include kidney/liver impairment, alcohol use, and acute illness.
Metformin is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney disease, metabolic acidosis, or excessive alcohol intake. It should be used cautiously in those with liver disease.
