Tapenta 100 mg tablets help with short-term relief from moderate to severe acute pain. This type of pain comes on suddenly. It has a clear cause and is expected to go away when the cause heals. These tablets are for adults and children 6 years and older who weigh at least 88 lb (40 kg). Each Tapenta 100 mg tablet contains 100 mg of Tapentadol. It’s an active ingredient that belongs to a group of drugs called Opiate (narcotic) Analgesics. It works by changing how the brain and nervous system respond to pain. Tapenta 100 mg is available in blister packs containing 10 pills each. It is manufactured by Zuventus Healthcare. Tapenta 100 mg can be habit-forming. Hence, we suggest you take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Follow your doctor’s recommendations for this medication’s safest and most effective use.

How does it Work?

Tapentadol is a synthetic analgesic that acts centrally. It’s believed to work through two main mechanisms, although their clinical relevance is not entirely clear.

Tapentadol acts as a selective mu-opioid receptor (MOR) agonist. It binds to MOR with greater affinity than delta—and kappa-opioid receptors.

Additionally, Tapentadol inhibits noradrenaline reuptake. This action increases noradrenaline levels and activates alpha-2 receptors, promoting analgesia.

While Tapentadol is also a weak serotonin reuptake inhibitor, this aspect does not contribute to its analgesic effect.

Uses

Pain management: Manages pain resulting from traumatic injuries, such as fractures or sprains.

Recommended Dose

Tapentadol comes in two forms:

  • immediate-release tablets
  • extended-release (long-acting) tablets

Tapenta 100 mg pills are immediate-release tablets. They are usually taken with or without food every 4 to 6 hours as needed for acute pain, usually for just a few days.

On your first day of treatment with immediate-release tablets, your doctor might say you can take a second dose as soon as 1 hour after the first dose if needed to treat your pain.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose, skip the missed one. Do not take two doses together to make up for the skipped one.
